Kyiv Prosecutor's Office informed about the employee of SE "Information judicial systems", who illegally used service equipment for cryptocurrency mining.
Meiner was a specialist in IT-industry. During the investigation it was revealed that from January to May 2018 he was extracting cryptovalues with the help of office computers, where court documents were stored, and also used the bandwidth of the organization's website. It was alleged that the "specialist" hosted external sites on working servers, including three online shops.
For illegal interference in the work of the organization's computer systems and for the distribution of malicious software, an Information Court Systems employee faces up to six years' imprisonment and a ban on working in State institutions.
Employees of Ukrainian enterprises are not the first to be caught in the illegal mining of cryptographic software. For example, in November employees of the Lviv branch of "Ukrainian Railways" used the company's energy systems for this purpose, the damage amounted to about 2.6 million rubles.
However, this month the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine stated that the mining does not need regulation, and this activity should be regulated only by the protocol itself and the network members.
