The digital dollar has been excluded from the Coronavirus Pandemic Response Bill.

The digital dollar was excluded from the latest version of the bill aimed at stimulating the U.S. economy against the backdrop of a coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, the Democratic Party of the United States planned to include in the bill a system of wallets digital dollar, which will be managed by the federal reserve banks. It was expected that the system would be used to make payments to U.S. residents who met certain criteria.

The updated version of the Workers and Families Support Bill already has 1,400 pages, but the Digital Dollar has been removed. This option was already allowed because the creation of the digital dollar raises a number of issues, including the need to develop appropriate infrastructure.

It was stated in the previous version of the document that payments could be made through cheques rather than digital dollars. This part of the draft law has also been changed, as it is now assumed that the advance tax refund will be made through the Ministry of Finance.

The regulation on the digital dollar is still contained in another draft law, which is also related to financial assistance to certain economic entities. However, a source familiar with the situation said that information about the digital dollar will most likely be removed from this document as well.
