At the end of next month, the US Congress will hold a hearing on the development and regulation of digital currencies.
According to the press release, the hearing entitled "Review of Domestic and International Approaches to Digital Currencies" will be held on March 24 in the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development and Monetary Policy of the U.S. Congress Financial Services Committee.
No further details of the hearing are available at this time. However, it is likely that lawmakers will be talking about Facebook Libra, given the opposition the project has received from some members of Congress, including its chairman Maxine Waters.
Recently, Jerome Powell, chairman of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, speaking to Congress, said that the Fed is actively working on a "digital dollar". At the same time, the impetus to create a national crypt currency was the announcement of Libra.
