Wilsons Auction House will sell confiscated bitcoins for $125,000.

The Belgian federal government will sell confiscated Bitcoins for $125,000 through an auction organized by the Irish auction house Wilsons Auctions.

The crypto assets are to be sold on behalf of the Belgian Federal Government, which has seized the BTC as part of criminal investigations and is currently working with the Wilsons Asset Recovery Department to dismantle the crypto. Bitcoins will be sold at an auction to be held on March 24, Wilsons Auctions reports.

Last September, British police sold through an auction house BTC, ETH and XRP for $600,000, and earlier Wilsons Auctions put up for sale cryptovalut for £300,000, seized by the Belgian government in a case of drug trafficking through the Darknet. The auction, which will take place this month, will be the first online auction of crypto assets in Ireland.

"This format has proven to be popular with our clients who can bid online and buy cryptographic software from a proven auction house instead of using online exchanges where transactions can be risky," said Mark Woods, head of asset recovery at Wilsons.

He added that the auction house offers assistance to newcomers to give all investors the opportunity to "participate on equal terms. Woods commended Wilsons for its recent cooperation with international experts, as well as law enforcement and government agencies. He noted that the strategy allows the auction house to remain "at the forefront" of modern developments.

The U.S. Marshals Service recently announced that it will auction off 4,040 bitcoins worth approximately $37.7 million, which will be the first cryptographic auction to be held since 2018.
