The operator of Slush Pool has released the firmware for ASIC-miners auto-tuning. The new development allows increasing the hashing power of the device without compromising its efficiency.
After halving the bitcoin in May, the number of BTCs coming into circulation every 10 minutes (unit awards) will be halved — from 12.5 to 6.25, or an average of 1800 to 900 BTCs per day. In this regard, the miners and developers have thought about optimizing the performance of the equipment so that it can remain profitable even after a decline in revenue.
Optimization of work with the help of firmware is one of the possibilities to increase the efficiency of ASIC-miners, as the productivity of devices is far from being limited by the parameters specified by the manufacturer. Braiins, which operates the oldest Slush Pool and has recently published the Stratum V2 protocol, also creates firmware for ASIC maintainers. Now the developers of the company have released Braiins OS+ firmware, which is positioned as a means of "auto-tuning" devices for BTC mining.
Auto-tuning helps to find the maximum frequency of stable operation for each chip in the ASIC-miner's hash board. In this way, the device is optimized to achieve higher hashing speeds while maintaining efficiency across the board. According to the company, Braiins OS+ — this is a firmware for the maintainers that allows them to increase the profitability of their existing devices. To encourage the maintainers to adopt the firmware, Braiins offers a 50% discount to all maintainers that send their hash rate to the Slush Pool from Braiins OS+ devices.
Another important Braiins OS+ — feature is the SSH unlock feature, which gives the maintainers full control over their devices and gives them access to remote monitoring and management functions. According to Braiins, rapid firmware upgrades and device startup minimize downtime. In addition, the ability to shut down fans and a special temperature control system make Braiins OS+ compatible with liquid cooling systems.
Braiins OS+ comes with a BOSminer+ firmware component, backwards compatible with Stratum V1, and includes implementation of the Stratum V2 mining protocol. This gives miners the ability to simplify device management, improve data efficiency and protect themselves from hash rate theft with a single update.
