Swiss watchmaker Breitling introduces blockchecks to combat counterfeiting

One of the oldest manufacturers of Swiss luxury watches Breitling will use a blockcheck to authenticate the limited collection Top Time.

According to the company's management, Breitling has decided to introduce a blockcheck in its business processes to prevent the spread of counterfeit Top Time watches, which the company has produced in the amount of 2,000 pieces. To protect customers from fraud, Breitling has begun using a blockage solution from an independent Paris-based consortium, Arianee, which specializes in digital identification of luxury goods.

Instead of a paper certificate, Top Time customers will be provided with a digital passport confirming the uniqueness of the purchased item. Owners will receive an electronic warranty card with a QR code that can be scanned to download the digital certificate of the product, detailed information on the serial number and date of activation of the warranty. Owners of Top Time will be able to transfer their ownership of the product, and this data will also be recorded in the box.

Antonio Carriero, head of Breitling's digital transformation department, believes that the collaboration with Arianee and the implementation of the blockage will allow the company to establish a more trusting relationship with customers who will no longer be afraid of buying fakes. Moreover, the blockchain will ensure a high level of communication with customers without compromising their privacy.

Earlier this month, UK brand Sarah Regensburger announced plans to implement VeChain's blockchain solution for tracking the apparel supply chain, while Japan's EY Japan began developing the SAKE Blockchain platform to track the sake supply chain and combat counterfeit products.
