A large fashion house has decided to use Blockchain and its core values to protect its products from counterfeiting and to give creative people freedom of expression.
Alexander McQueen launched a new technology firm called MCQ. This brand is the first of its kind, as it is based on a blockage platform that allows designers and consumers to register on the website and trade clothes.
MCQ brand is not controlled by a group of designers - each item of clothing is selected by a specially selected alliance of novice creative professionals, thanks to which the company helps to create a community of like-minded people.
The representative of the company told that MCQ is more than just a clothing line, because this brand works on a digital block-platform called "MYMCQ":
«Label, affiliates, correspondent banks, collectors, responsible people all meet together on the MYMCQ platform. It represents something more than the usual use of a blockchain. We have worked hard to create an optimal process of interaction with clients and on this basis created a whole set of technologies».
In its final form, the MYMCQ platform will serve as a platform for promising designers to work together, and Everledger's block-start-up partnership with MCQ will ensure that the platform will accurately register every piece of clothing for sale.
«MYMCQ works on a special version of the Hooperledger, which we created taking into account previous solutions for tracking the origin of goods in a number of industries. It's the same set of technologies as the version used for tracking diamond origins, but with custom sales for MCQ»" said the Everledger representative.
According to Everledger, each MCQ piece of clothing will be assigned a unique identification code, followed by a block listing. After that, consumers will be able to trace the life cycle of this product - from the place and time of its production to its belonging to a particular collection. This will also allow people to know whether a product has been sold before or not.
Buyers will only need a smartphone to scan a product tag placed on the outside of their clothes. After scanning, consumers will receive detailed information about the product.
Blockchain allows you to solve the problem with counterfeit designer goods, the world turnover of which is a trillion dollars.
«Consumers can be assured that they are buying genuine products, whether they are sold directly from MCQ or in second hand stores. This helps fight against the sale of counterfeit luxury goods. By providing the opportunity for simple resale between consumers, MCQ hopes to encourage greater attention to consumer interests»" MCQ said.
In addition, the MCQ explained that the MYMCQ platform functions as an open digital ecosystem and allows fashion designers to create their own products and even choose music for launch parties.
Consumers, also known as "collectors" on the platform, can register each MCQ item they have purchased in their own digital collection.
